I’ve stopped saying we are home schooling because we’re basically doing interesting things with a bit of learning as a natural part of that. I’m quite surprised by how much my attitude has changed. I was so sure Freya needed a structured timetable at first but it soon became clear that it didn’t suit either of us.
This week we had a go at stop motion animation using a free software app and Freya’s Playmobil. We couldn’t believe how many photos were needed to make even a 10 second clip. Freya auditioned a cast, thought up most of the story, learned how to make tiny changes to her ‘actors’ and took most of the photos.
I don’t think any animation studios will be hiring us any time soon but we are pretty happy with it.
