November might not seem like the ideal time to visit the beach but we love the relative peace and quiet.
We got very lucky with the weather last Sunday having driven through rain to get to the beach and then back into it on the way home. It seemed to have skipped Sheringham.
This year, for the first time, maybe ever, I got a proper winter coat. I’ve had coats before, obviously, but they have just been an ordinary bog standard coat and often, as I have found out many times, they haven’t even been waterproof.
When my last coat became so faded that I couldn’t even be sure of its original colour, I invested in a proper “performance” coat and, my goodness, what a difference it has made. It’s waterproof, windproof and has taped seams. I’m so comfortable now, even on a horrible wet school run. It was also the same price as a normal coat (I got it from an outlet). I wish I’d done it years ago (or at least after having Freya and spending more time outside).
Anyway, not an advert, more like a note to self.
How has your week been?
Beautiful photos. I’ve always liked the idea of visiting a beach in winter, but we don’t live close enough to one!
Well done on getting a decent coat! Mine has faded badly and is showerproof at best, and definitely lets water in at the seams, you’re inspiring to invest in a better one.

I can’t believe I haven’t done it before. I think I just thought “performance” coats were for if you went skiing or trekking in the mountains or something.

We’ve always spoken about visiting a beach in the middle of winter but never quite got around to it. Your photos show it can be surprisingly colourful. You kinda imagine it would just be grey! enjoy the Performance coat. You’ll be sure to get good use out of it if you do more trips like this!

Beautiful photos, my coat has died so I shall bear your wise words in mind.

I don’t know why I’d never thought of it before. I think I assumed “performance” coats were just for skiing trips or proper outdoor adventures rather than walking to school and back in the rain.

Congrats on the new coat. I find I can deal with any weather with the proper attire, etc. Going to the beach in the colder months is one of my all-time favorite things. Less people and, as long as it’s not too too windy, a cold walk on the beach is so enjoyable!

Definitely. We’ve popped along at Christmas for the past few years but found ALL of Norfolk had the same idea 🙂
