It’s not just the light that I like about this photo but the fact that Freya is off and running into the woods with no fear – she’s so at home in nature, it makes my heart happy.
Last Sunday was another freezing day but we decided to blow the cobwebs away with a morning walk at Whitlingham Country Park, just outside Norwich. We went into the woods first before visiting the broad, which was mostly frozen with only the smallest gap for the birds.
Freya was all for ice-skating but, with the help of a thawing puddle, I was able to demonstrate why that wasn’t a good idea.
Here’s one of Mark in the woods that I had a play with using the free Fotor editor. It didn’t really need it but it was fun to tinker.
I’ve enjoyed being out in the cold but I’d be quite happy for it to warm up now.
Such beautiful photos! It’s so important to get outside whatever the weather, although I’d definitely like it to warm up a bit too!

Yes, for sure. We live by the motto “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just poor clothing choices”. 🙂

Great seasonal images. Freya looks very care free running into the foods. I must try and get out during the day with my camera this week.

I hope you can manage it, John. Can’t wait to see the results 🙂

Hi Tara, Freya looks so tiny running into the distance, and the trees so huge. I like the contrast of size. Frozen water and children aren’t a good mix. I remember my Dad demonstrating the dangers of ice skating on frozen water on our garden pond. It worked.

It’s a shame not all adults realise the danger. Check out this story (not sure why it’s in a Kent newspaper) http://www.kentnews.co.uk/news/seriously_stupid_chilling_photo_prompts_warning_over_dangers_of_walking_on_ice_1_4858475 This is where we were, although didn’t see it.

It really is. The only way they will connect with it is to be out in it, I think.

Beautiful photos. Love the light in the first one and Freya heading off on an adventure. I remember my mum teaching me a similar lesson with the dangers of wanting to ice skate on a frozen pond.
