My little ladybird and I enjoyed a lovely trip to Blickling Hall in Norfolk yesterday – even with the wind, rain and, at times, hail.
They say that you never forget the first time you see the hall and while Freya is perhaps a bit too young for that to hold true it certainly made an impression. I told her to look out of the window as we drove by to get to the car park and couldn’t help but smile at her awed “Wow.”
There is no doubt it is an impressive looking building but it has a history to match. I have a Things To Do In Norfolk post about our trip planned this week.
While I am still in awe of the hall, my “wow” moment came during a walk up to the Great Wood to see the bluebells. I’ve put a few more pics on Instagram. The smell was heavenly too but sadly I can’t share that.

What gorgeous photos! The hall really is stunning and her smile is so cute 🙂

Wow! Love, love, love Blickling. Excellent for picnics, tea room good, fantastic second hand book shop and decent pub at the end of the drive. Looking forward to your Things to do post. #MySundayPhoto

It is amazing isn’t it? And what a history. I was trying to explain Anne Boleyn to Freya yesterday and sort of stopped half way wondering if she was a bit young. Hehe.

Anne Boleyn fine Norfolk woman. Was going to suggest Edith Cavell …. how about Harriet Martineau, she didn’t meet a grisly end

What a sight for sore eyes!- if I had sore eyes. So maybe I should have said feast! Those bluebells are stunning – just like a carpet. I didn’t know they had a perfume, as I have never seen them growing – too hot here. And the house: imagine growing up in a mansion like that??

When we were wandering around the grounds I imagined ladies in the long dresses taking a turn around the garden under their sun umbrellas, it must have been beautiful (no wifi though) 🙂

Great pictures Tara. Unfortunately I think I’m going to end up missing the bluebells this year as we’re away the next two weekends. Thanks for sharing xx
